The Pittsburgh community is mourning the loss of Jeff Cohen, a cherished neighbor, volunteer, and friend who passed away peacefully on Sunday after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 62.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Jeff dedicated his life to service, compassion, and bringing people together. Known for his easy smile and gentle sense of humor, he touched countless lives through decades of community involvement, mentoring projects, and charitable work.
Jeff spent more than 30 years in nonprofit outreach, focusing on improving access to educational resources for underserved families across Allegheny County. His colleagues often described him as “the heart of every project,” someone who made others feel valued and inspired.
Outside of his professional life, Jeff was an avid gardener, a passionate Steelers fan, and a devoted friend. Neighbors recall his habit of shoveling sidewalks for others during winter storms, often before they even woke up.
Jeff is survived by his spouse, two children, and a wide circle of loved ones who will forever remember his kindness, generosity, and unwavering optimism in the face of hardship.
A celebration of life will be held this Saturday at the Highland Park Community Center, where friends and family will gather to honor his legacy.
