A married couple in their 60s was killed Sunday after a double shooting at a residence in the 500 block of Hawks Bill Place, in the Wood Ranch neighborhood of Simi Valley, California.
According to authorities, police responded just after noon to reports of gunfire at the home. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman inside the garage of the house both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, but both later died.
Investigators have described the shooting as a “targeted attack.” Witnesses told police they saw a suspect get out of a vehicle nearby, fire several rounds, then flee the scene in a car. The victims have been identified as longtime residents of the area, and one of them worked for many years as a physician at a local hospital.
Meanwhile, police say they are also looking into a possible connection between this double homicide and a recent death by suicide in Chino, where a car fire had occurred. While investigators consider the incidents “possibly connected,” no formal link has yet been confirmed.
As of now: no suspects have been arrested; no motive has been publicly confirmed; and authorities say there is no active threat to the public. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
